Pierce County Sheriff's Deputy Daniel McCartney
A legacy fund is being established for fallen Pierce County Sheriff's Deputy Daniel McCartney.
This is the official legacy fund and is created in partnership with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department and Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers. 100% of all funds donated in memory of Deputy McCartney will go directly to his wife and three young sons.
Deputy Daniel McCartney was killed in the line of duty on Monday January 8, 2018, while responding to a report of an intruder at a residence in the Frederickson area of Pierce County.
Deputy McCartney was a patrol deputy with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department for 3 years; he previously served as a Hoquiam Police officer for 4 years and as a detention officer at the Grays Harbor Juvenile Facility. He was a proud United States Navy Veteran and was deployed to Afghanistan in service to his country.
He is survived by his wife and three sons age 9, 6, and 4.
